This song rings true for every single character on TVD. No one of them asking for the the situations they have be thrust into and they now have to struggle against the darkness and evil that threatens to consume them. I read that some found the song too obvious, a little cheesy and cliche, but I think it packed the right amount of punch during a pivotal part in the “Crying Wolf” episode. I don’t think it was exclusive to Tyler and his struggles, but to every single one of the characters on the show. How they fight what is expected of them, learning from the mistakes they have all made and try carve out their own path in the world while still trying to live a normal life is extraordinary. They struggle and they sometimes fall, but they pick themselves up and keep going and that is inspiring.
